At the Trent Rylands Federation, we value Art and Design as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum and the way in which it stimulates their creativity, imagination and self-expression. Our Art and Design curriculum provides the children with the opportunity to express their individual interests, thoughts and ideas through the exploration of different and varied mediums, techniques and processes. The delivery of Art engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. Children are introduced to a wealth of artists which helps them gain a better appreciation of points in history, cultural differences and the world around them in a general sense. Year upon year, children build upon skills taught before and develop better mastery of them.
Art at the Trent Rylands Federation is stimulating, engaging and fun. Children will produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences. They will become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. They will become proficient in evaluating and analysing creative works using the language of art, craft and design. They will know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
